Launching Ceremony for New Disability Programs in Vietnam

On October 27th, 2015, in Hanoi, United State Agencies International Development in collaboration with Vietnam Assistance for Handicapped (VNAH) held the launching ceremony of 6 new disability programs in the period of 2015 – 2020. Attending the ceremony were Deputy Minister Nguyen Trong Dam; Mrs. Dang Huynh Mai – President of Vietnam Federation on Disability (VFD); Mr. Joakim Parker – Director of USAID in Vietnam; Mr. Nguyen Van hoi – Director General of the Department of Social Assistances; representatives from the provinces/ cities; international organization, NGOs and related agencies.

Launching Ceremony for New Disability Programs in Vietnam

 According to Mr. Joakim Parker said that the disability have been playing the important role during the development process of Vietnam. The projects announced today aimed at improving health, independence, and participation in economic and social life for persons with disabilities.

The 6 programs in the period of 2015 – 2020 of USAID including: Protecting the Rights of Persons with disabilities (PRP); Disabilities Integration Services and Therapies Network for Capacity and Treatment; ….

In the speech at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Trong Dam welcomed and highly appreciated the support from United State Government, the organizations, individual for the advancement of people with disabilities in Vietnam, especially, the USAID’s program implemented recently. He said that Vietnam’s Government always paid attention to the support persons with disabilities with the target of improving their health, enhancing social integration and strengthening the rights of people with disabilities.
